ODASCO Emerges Victorious In Ghana’s Maiden Edition Of Professor Lumumba’s Pan African SHS Quiz Competition

The Oda Senior High School (ODASCO) in the Birim Central municipality of the Eastern Region has emerged victorious in the Ghana maiden edition of the Plo Lumumba Pan African SHS Quiz Competition.

Professor Patrick Otieno Lumumba, a Pan-African activist and Kenyan lawyer, instituted the senior high school quiz competition, which has been titled the “PLO Lumumba Pan-African SHS Quiz Competition.”

 

Competition Details

The campus of Oda Senior High School hosted the inaugural Plo Lumumba Pan African Senior High Schools Quiz Competition, which brought together four Senior High Schools from the region to compete on knowledge of Pan Africanism.

Oda Senior High School (ODASCO), Akim Swedru SHS (AKISSS), Swedru SHS (SWESCO), and Ataffuah Senior High & Technical School (ASTECK) are the senior high schools that participated in the first-ever Plo Lumumba Pan African SHS Quiz in Ghana.

At the end of the competition, which was held at the Oda Senior High School campus, saw ODASCO emerge as the overall winner with 47 points.

Akim Swedru SHS came second with 40 points, followed closely by Swedru SHS with 39 points, and Ataffuah Senior High & Technical School with 25 points.

 

Reaction 

The headmaster of Oda Senior High School, Mr. Eric Amoah, expressed his delight in his school’s victory, applauding the organizers for promoting knowledge about Pan Africanism among Senior High School students.

He noted that the competition has helped to broaden the students’ understanding of the African continent and its rich history.

 

Organizers’ Message

The African Mentorship Program Coordinator for the Prof. Lumumba Foundation, Mr. Razak Awudu, emphasized the importance of promoting Pan Africanism among the youth.

He urged students to desist from bad behaviors, particularly attacking their teachers, as seen on social media recently.

Mr. Awudu stressed that the competition aims to equip students with knowledge and skills that will enable them to become responsible and patriotic citizens.

 

Education Director’s Commendation

The Birim Central Municipal Education Director, Madam Gloria Agyiri Kelson, commended Professor Patrick Otieno Lumumba for instituting the competition, which promotes Pan Africanism and encourages students to learn about their African heritage.

She encouraged students to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence in their academic pursuits.
