Asantehemaa Summons Central Market Queens Over Claims Of Gov’t Funds For Market Women

The Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III has summoned the market Queens at the Kumasi Central market to answer why they have formed other unions within the market to take monies without her consent.

The Asantehemaa, has chosen Nana Yaa Fowaah to represent her at all the markets in the kingdom since she is the custodian of all the markets in the kingdom.

During the Akoma FM/Onua TV Peoples’ Assembly Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at the GNAT Hall in Kumasi, one Hajia who is the queen of Alatasamina sellers at the Central market said they have been given money to expand their businesses.

Some noted they received GH₵5,000.00 and according to Hajia, the second batch of the women, who number up to 1,200 would receive their share this week.

This information as churned out at the Peoples’ Assembly enraged many of the market women who phoned the market queen, Nana Fowaah to express their disappointment.

Nana, who knew nothing about the said money stormed the Peoples’ Assembly the next day to clear the air that nothing of that sort has come to her notice.

She even threatened a suit against Hajia who cloned such monies have been given to tarnish her (Nana Fowaah) image.

But speaking on Onua TV/FM’s Maakye Monday, October 3, 2022, host of the show, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, aka Captain Smart noted the Asantehemaa has summoned them to explain why such monies would be taken under any form of leadership without her knowledge.
