Contractors working on some health facilities in the Ashanti Region have assured government of the speedy completion of the projects. According to them, most of the main components of the projects are completed with equipment fixed.
This was disclosed when the Ashanti Regional Minister nominee Simon Osei Mensah visited the project sites to acquaint himself with the progress made so far.
The Ashanti Regional Minister-designate Mr Simon Osei Mensah is on a two-day tour of the region to inspect various projects under construction.
At Konongo, the Resident Engineer, Ahmed Massoud who briefed the Minister said work is about 92% complete and will be completed and handed in very soon.
A representative of the Chief of Konongo Nana Yaw Frimpong commended government for making frantic efforts to improve the health care delivery of residents, as well as commuters on Kumasi to Accra highway. He however appealed to government to construct the hospital road as soon as possible, since it is in a deplorable state.
At Kumamu in the Sekyere Kumawu district of Ashanti, the state of the polyclinic is deplorable. According to the Medical Superintendent of the Polyclinic, though the facility is being managed, a recent rainstorm ripped off the roofing of the already deplorable hospital destroying medical consumables, drugs, theater and computers.
At the site of the new hospital under construction, only workers who are working on the landscaping were seen at the site. At the 500-bed capacity Aferi Military hospital in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality, Project Officer Tiyuniba Mahama gave the state of the building.
