The aggrieved residents who spoke to the press expressed their sentiment over how the Electricity Company of Ghana has subsequently charged unlawful bills over the past months in Bibiani in the Western north region, calling it nuisance.

They accused the ECG of intentionally extorting money from them under these economic woes.

“We will rather resort to the gods to solve our problems than anything because we believe it will be quicker and the best means to deal with them. How can we pay over seven hundred Ghana cedis monthly for using only bulbs? This is very hectic and we need the attention of the god’s settling this issue,” they noted.

One of the aggrieved customer, Afrani, who stays at Hwenampori, reiterated that several attempts to reach the ECG officials to solve their issues of over billing have proven unfruitful. He thinks those calling for the attention of the ancestral supplements will be better.

“We have been to the ECG office more than ten times, we are only three tenants in the house, we do not have high voltage appliances but they want us to pay over thousand five hundred Ghana cedis for two months, sometimes they will insult you and call you names for coming to the office for redress. This is very wicked and we will never succumb to their bullies. We are all Ghanaians, so we are calling on the authorities to come in or we shall curse them one by one,” he noted.

Furtherance of the story, some residents narrated that this ECG staff will either remove your meter or disconnect you from the power for no wrong done, meanwhile you will have to pay some amount of money to them before reconnection.

‘‘We are tired of the ECG frustrations, it seems we are the only peoples using electricity in Ghana, they are always on us for bills, they will never bring the bill but when you go in for it, they will say their system is not working, moreover in the subsequent month they will bring a huge bill for just a month, your refusal to pay resort to disconnection. We can no longer hold it and calling on swift actions from the authorities’’, they concluded.
