The principal and accredited elders of the Anum Traditional Area in the Eastern Region have vented their anger at the Adontehene of the area, Nenye Kwasi Anyane V.
Consequently, the elders warned Nenye Kwasi Anyane V to immediately stop his continuous habit of attacking the integrity of the Paramount Chief (Omanhene) of Anum Traditional Area, Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII.
According to the elders of Anum led by their Asafoatse Okumami Gyau, the general public, particularly the citizens of Anum, should treat with discontent any report from Nenye Kwasi Anyane V and his followers trying to defame Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII as not the legitimate Paramount Chief of Anum.
He told journalists that Nenye Kwasi Anyane V doubts the legitimacy of the Paramount Chief of Anum because he has not cross-checked the facts from the National House of Chiefs (NHCs), and yet he [Nenye Kwasi Anyane V] is throwing dust into the eyes of the general public and the citizens of Anum.
The Asafoatse Okumami Gyau stressed that Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII has the documentary proof of being the lawful gazetted Paramount Chief of Anum and must be recognized as such.
According to him, the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi and an extract from the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs have indicated that Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII, who has been legally, customarily, and traditionally installed as Paramount Chief of Anum on May 5, 2023, was lawfully and constitutionally approved by the NHCs on May 5, 2023.
He stressed that this documentation attests to the fact that Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII was gazetted on May 5, 2023, and called on the general public to ignore the current big lies being peddled by Nenye Kwasi Anyane V to the effect that the gazette secured by Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII was fraud.
Speaking in an interview with some journalists on the current chieftaincy development in Anum, the elders led by Asafoatse Okumami Gyau maintained that Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII was the only legitimate Paramount Chief of Anum.
Their statement was in reaction to the claim by some individuals led by Nenye Kwasi Anyane V that Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII fraudulently secured his gazette from the NHCs.
Setting the records straight, the elders described the allegation against their paramount chief as “unacceptable, malicious, libelous, and an insult to the intelligence of the principal kingmakers and elders of Anum.”
The Asafoatse Okumami Gyau expressed disappointment in Nenye Kwasi Anyane V, adding that although Nenye Kwasi Anyane V, who was making these wild allegations that went viral on social media platforms, is very much aware of this fact, he [Nenye Kwasi Anyane V] has chosen to deceive the public into thinking that the paramount chief’s gazette was fraud.
To them who are principal and accredited elders of the Anum Traditional Area, the fact still remains that “Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIll is still the Paramount Chief of the area with a gazette from the National House of Chiefs, and nothing can change this status. All that Nenye Kwasi Anyane V and his followers are saying is not the truth.
He stressed that the National House of Chiefs has gazetted Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII as the Paramount Chief of the area, saying that document has generally brought to finality the cooked story of Nenye Kwasi Anyane V.
The certified copy of the extract document of the gazette from the National House of Chiefs that is in possession of this news outlet, dated July 27, 2023, has, therefore, given legal backing to Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII to be recognized as the traditionally and customarily installed Paramount Chief of Anum.
The document has two serial numbers, 3138-946 and 3139, respectively, with an approved date of May 5, 2023, and details how the NHCs conducted thorough searches and investigations with the various principal elders and heads of Anum before gazzing Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII.
The document further has details of the title of office, the town or village, the traditional area where both the late and present Chiefs were coming from, the stool, and the private names of the two successive chiefs of Anum Paramount Stool. The current paramount chief of Anum Akusiaku-Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII and that he succeeded the late chief of the area, Nana Appiah Kumi III.
