The Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in Akyem Oda, the capital of Birim Central Municipality in the Eastern Region, Engineer Isaac Terkper, reveals that the majority of cars operating in Akyem Oda and its surroundings are holding bogus documents.
He claimed that roughly 80% of the vehicles operating in the Akyem Oda enclave were in possession of forged documents, which he described as a serious problem for the authorities to address.
Mr. Isaac continued by saying that while Asamankese is experiencing the same issue, what is happening in Akyem Oda is on a very high level.
He advised anyone who wanted to purchase a car to go through the proper channels and visit the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office to make the required inquiries about the vehicle.
In an interview with Obidombie Nana Acquah, the host of the Kwanso Kosekose show on the Akyem Oda-based Ofie FM, Engineer Isaac Terkper stated, “If you want to buy a car, you must go to the nearest DVLA office to check if the car has the right documents or not.”
He reveals that as a result of the DVLA changing the plate numbers each year, people become familiar with them make their own plates without permission, and unlawfully sell them.
He claimed that because some people are tagging him in party colors and interfering with his work, it is extremely difficult for him to combat the canker.
“I was posted here to work but people are tagging me with party colors and sabotaging my work”, he said.
