The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman for Atwima Nwabiagya Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon. John Kwame Duodu, is pleading with electorates to save Ghana by rejecting what he called “the corrupt government of the former President John Dramani Mahama”.

Given John Mahama another chance to lead Ghana as president would spell doom for the nation, according to the Ashanti Regional Tescon Patron, Sir John, as he is widely known.

He states that during Mahama’s first term in office, he made numerous numerous mistakes and poor decisions that ultimately had an adverse effect on the nation.

He goes on to say that “it is imperative that we learn from these errors and avoid repeating them by electing a more competent and capable leader on December 7, 2024.”

“It is my firm belief that the presidency is not a position for remedial individuals, and therefore, H. E. John Mahama should not be elected for a second term,” he stated in a statement obtained by MyGhanaMedia.com.

2024 General Election: The Presidency is not for remedial candidates; Reject former President John Mahama and the NDC on December 7th.

The upcoming presidential election in December has already garnered a great deal of attention and speculation. One of the main candidates running for the highest office is former President John Mahama. However, it is my firm belief that the presidency is not a position for remedial individuals and therefore, H. E. John Mahama should not be elected for a second term.

Throughout his first term as president, Mahama made numerous mistakes and poor decisions that ultimately had negative consequences for the country. It is imperative that we learn from these errors and avoid repeating them by electing a more competent and capable leader on December 7, 2024.

One of the main reasons why Mahama should not be re-elected is his track record of mismanagement and corruption during his first term in office. Under his leadership, Ghana experienced a decline in economic growth, skyrocketing inflation rates, and a sharp increase in public debt. Additionally, there were multiple instances of corruption and embezzlement within his administration, further damaging the country’s reputation on the global stage. It is clear that Mahama lacks the essential skills and abilities required to effectively lead the nation and make sound decisions for the betterment of her citizens.

Furthermore, Mahama’s handling of the energy crisis in Ghana was widely criticized during his presidency. The country experienced frequent power outages known as “dumsor,” which had a detrimental impact on businesses, households, and the overall economy. Despite the many promises he made to address the energy crisis, Mahama failed to implement sustainable solutions and the energy crisis persisted throughout his term in office. This failure to effectively manage such a critical issue demonstrates a lack of leadership and problem-solving skills on his part.

In addition to his failures in economic management and crisis resolution, Mahama also demonstrated a lack of commitment to upholding democratic values and respecting the rule of law during his presidency. There were numerous allegations of political intimidation, harassment of journalists, and suppression of dissenting opinions under his administration. These actions are antithetical to the principles of democracy and freedom of expression and they raise serious concerns about Mahama’s respect for human rights and civil liberties.

Another reason why Mahama should not be re-elected is his tendency to make empty promises and engage in populist rhetorics without providing concrete plans for implementation. During his first term, he made grandiose pledges to create jobs, improve infrastructure, and boost economic growth. But he failed to deliver on many of these commitments. This lack of follow-through and accountability is indicative of a leader who lacks the vision and strategic direction necessary to lead a nation effectively.

Moreover, Mahama’s lack of transparency and accountability when it comes to managing public resources and funds is deeply troubling. There were several allegations of corruption and embezzlements within his administration which he failed to adequately address or hold those responsible accountable. This raises serious questions about his integrity and commitment to the welfare of the Ghanaian people.

As responsible citizens , it is important for us all to critically evaluate the qualifications and track record of each presidential candidate before casting our votes on the election day. In the case of John Mahama, his past actions and decisions as president make it clear that he is not the right person to lead Ghana again. We need a leader who is honest, competent and committed to the well-being of all citizens, not just a select few.

In conclusion, it is my firm belief that the presidency is not a position for remedial candidates like John Mahama. We cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past by electing a leader who has already proven himself incapable of effectively governing the country. It is time for Ghana to move forward with a new leader who will prioritize transparency, accountability, and the well-being of all citizens. Say no to Mahama in December and choose a candidate who will bring real change and progress to our nation.
