President Akufo-Addo has nominated Charles Gyamfi Boateng as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region.
This nomination follows the vacancy left by the sudden death of the former MCE, Mr. Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, a month ago.
The nomination of Charles Gyamfi Boateng is in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act,936).
Charles Gyamfi Boateng, the Chairman of the Krachi East Constituency of the New Patriotic Party, has a long history of service within the party.
He started as a polling agent and branch chairman in 1992, later serving as constituency secretary and organizer.
Boateng played a pivotal role as campaign manager for Mr. Michael Yaw Gyato, the former Member of Parliament for Krachi East, during the 2016 election.
Members of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed support for Boateng’s nomination.
Mustapha Abdul Galiyu, a former communications officer of the National Democratic Congress, praised Boateng’s dedication to the NPP and described him as a grassroots leader with energy and charisma.
John Yaw Benyenase, a former communication officer of the NPP, highlighted Boateng’s past roles as constituency organizer and later Chairman, expressing optimism that his nomination would bring unity and hope to the NPP in the Krachi East constituency.
