An American singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Stevie Wonder, has taken the Oath of Allegiance and received his Certificate of Citizenship to become a Ghanaian citizen.
The ceremony took place on Monday, May 13, at the Jubilee House, Ghana’s seat of government, signifying Stevie Wonder’s official integration into Ghanaian society.
Renowned American musician and songwriter Stevie Wonder was granted Ghanaian citizenship status by the President of the Republic H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo.
Coincidentally, Stevie Wonder is also celebrating his 74th birthday today, having been born on Saturday, May 13, 1950.
At a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House, Stevie Wonder expressed his delight at the honor done him.

In a post on social media, Kow Essuman, the legal counsel to President Akufo-Addo, congratulated the celebrated musician for embracing Ghanaian citizenship.
“Stevie Wonder is officially Ghanaian. He has just taken the Oath of Allegiance and received the Certificate of Citizenship by Registration at Jubilee House. Congratulations, Sir and welcome to Ghana,” he posted.
