Police Summon Accra FM’s Political Talk Show Host Over Explosive Allegations

The Accra Regional Police Command has officially requested Class Media Group’s Accra FM to release their political talk show host, Nana Otu Darko, for questioning.

This request is part of the ongoing investigation into the incendiary claims made by politician Hopeson Adorye during a recent interview on the station.

Hopeson Adorye, a prominent member of the Movement for Change, asserted that the NPP had instructed him to use dynamites in the Volta Region.

He claimed it was meant to intimidate supporters of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and discourage them from voting in the last elections.

These controversial statements led to Hopeson Adorye’s arrest and subsequent arraignment in court, where he was charged with the publication of false news by the police.

On Thursday, May 23, the Dansoman District Court granted him bail set at GH¢20,000, with two sureties, one of which must be justified.

After Hopeson Adorye’s court appearance, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) sent a formal request to Class Media Group, urging them to ensure the presence of the presenter, Nana Otu Darko.

The police believe that his involvement is crucial for uncovering the context and authenticity of the allegations made during the interview.

The CID’s letter, emphasizing the urgency and importance of the matter, was delivered to the media organization on the same day.

The letter specified, “It would be appreciated if the host could be released to report at Accra Regional CID on Friday, 24 May 2024 at 10 am with a copy of the audio and video recording of the aforementioned program to facilitate investigations.”
