Former Wassa East MP Evans Amoah Reported Dead

Former Western Regional Minister, and Member of Parliament for Wassa East Constituency, Anthony Evans Amoah, has passed away at the age of 72.

According to reports, he died on Saturday, November 2, after a short illness. Anthony Evans Amoah was also the former Minister of State

Anthony Evans Amoah is a seasoned Ghanaian politician and journalist who made significant contributions to his country’s development. Born on April 8, 1952, in Mpohor, Western Region, Ghana, Amoah hails from a humble background.

He holds a Master of Philosophy in Sociology (1995) and a Master of Business Administration (2000) from the prestigious University of Ghana.

Amoah worked as a Journalist and Advertiser before going to Parliament.

He also worked as the Human Resource Manager of the Graphic Communications Group Limited.

Amoah’s political career took off when he was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2004 Ghanaian General Elections, representing the Wassa East Constituency in the Western Region.

He won with an impressive 19,635 votes out of 40,736 total valid votes cast, securing 48.2% of the total votes. Amoah’s victory was a testament to his dedication and hard work.

As a member of the New Patriotic Party, Amoah served as the Western Regional Minister under President John Kufuor’s administration until 2008. During his tenure, he oversaw significant projects, including the completion of the Essipong Sports Stadium Complex, a 20,000-capacity stadium built for the African Cup of Nations in 2008.

In the 2008 Ghana’s general elections, Amoah won his parliamentary seat again with 16,014 votes out of 37,936 valid votes, his legacy continues to inspire future generations of Ghanaian politicians.

Anthony Evans Amoah, a devoted Christian and member of the Pentecost Church, has left behind five children.
