Give Us A ‘Unifier” George Acheampong As DCE – Achiase Residents Beg President Mahama

A cross-section of political players in the Achiase constituency has made a passionate appeal to President John Mahama to appoint George Acheampong as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Achiase District.

They described him as a “hard-working” grandee whose leadership will transform the constituency and its environs.

Speaking to a section of the ruling NDC executives, chiefs, and residents of the area, they praised George Acheampong’s dedication and hard work in serving the party and his community as the constituency chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and assembly member for the Abaase electoral area.

His track record as NDC constituency chairman has been impressive, making the party more attractive to voters in the constituency. In fact, the party’s votes in the constituency saw a significant increase in the 2024 elections.

“Mr. George is a unifier,” they remarked.

According to them, Acheampong’s contributions as an Assembly member for Abaase have also not gone unnoticed.

Some of the chiefs and the residents said, “We have taken this stand respectfully based on his enviable track record, his charisma, his ability to cooperate with the Assembly Members, and his adherence to the local government act.”

They are confident that Acheampong possesses the necessary experience and leadership skills to effectively manage the affairs of the district.

Acheampong has earned the endorsement of the youth in the district.

“Mr. President, honorable George Acheampong is a man of integrity and has always believed in the rule of law. His leadership skills have attracted and anchored an overwhelming acceptance from various political fronts within the constituency and beyond,” a portion of a communique to the president read.

“Pursuant to Article 243 of Chapter 20 of Ghana’s Constitution, which states that there shall be a District Chief Executive for every district who shall be appointed by the President with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly present and voting at the meeting”, we, the concerned youth, residents of Achiase District, and the majority of the members of the party within the constituency, humbly call on your revered high office to appoint Hon. George Acheampong as the District Chief Executive to support your great vision of Resting Ghana Agenda.”.

They added that the DCE is supposed to be the representative of the President, for which matter the person should be someone who appeals and reaches to all sides, hence their plea.

Acheampong’s appointment as DCE would likely be met with widespread approval from the community and would be a step in the right direction for the district’s development.

President Mahama, who has pledged to run a lean and efficient government, would do well to consider the residents’ request.
