Adventist SHS Shooting: Ex-NUGs President Slams GES, MoE After Visiting Shot Student

The Former President of National Union of Ghana Students, Emmanuel Yiadom Boakye has paid a visit to Suzzy Pinamang, the Adventist SHS student who was tragically shot in the face by a fellow student in Bantama.

He donated an undisclosed amount of cash to support her treatment.

Concerns Over Institutional Response

During his visit, Mr. Boakye expressed deep concern over the seeming silence from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Ministry of Education regarding the incident.

He described their inaction as “disturbing and unacceptable”, especially considering that students are under th direct care and protection of educational authorities while in school.

Call To Action

Mr. Boakye emphasized that the government, state security, Ministry of Education, and Ghana Education Service must take responsibility for the incident and expedite support for Suzzy and her family.

Furthermore, Mr. Boakye called on educational authorities and the relevant stakeholders to demonstrate genuine leadership and care in handling the situation.

“The government, state security, the Ministry of Education, and GES must step forward, take responsibility, and expedite support for Suzzy and her family in the interest of justice. This tragedy happened under their watch — and they can not distance themselves from it”, he said

He urged the Ashanti Regional Entertainment Perfect and other stakeholders in the region to rise above the noise and show meaningful advocacy, stressing that it is crucial not to abandon Suzzy or justice and responsibilities in this matter.

“Let us not abandon Suzzy. Let us not abandon justice. Let us not abandon our responsibilities”.

This incident has sparked a wave of concern among the public, with many calling for swift action from the authorities to ensure that Suzzy receives the necessary support and care. As investigations into the incident continue, Mr. Boakye’s visit serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and responsibility from those in positions of authority.

In light of this incident, it is essential for the educational authorities to reassess their safety protocols and measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
