Spread the love

Concerned Citizens of Bekwai  have practically begged His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo to consider the good works of Hon. Kwaku Kyei-Baffour, the Municipal chief executive for Bekwai Municipal, and retain him in his second term.

According to the youth, their MCE performed extremely well in his first term and they are optimistic he will do even much better for the area if he is being maintained.

They also lamented that the  MCE is incorruptible and heeds to advise anytime he is given one. He always show respects the elders, makes sure everyone in the Municipality enjoys their fair share of the national cake.

In a statement signed on behalf of the Concerned Citizens of Bekwai by their chairman, Yaw Asimadu, stated clearly that changing Hon. Kwaku Kyei-Baffour will cause a delay in the progress of the area considering the service he has rendered to the Municipal since his appointment.

They made this assertion after a group calling itself calling president not retain him as their next DCE, but according the opinion Leaders, it would be unwise for President not retain Hon. Williams Darko to continue his good work.

Judging from his incomparable achievements as a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the last four (4), Hon. Kwaku Kyei-Baffour years, has done many unprecedented developmental projects for the people of Bekwai Municipal which has brought smiles to the faces of residents in the Municipality.

DATE: 20TH APRIL, 2021
FROM: CONCERNED CITIZENS OF BEKWAI CONSTITUENCY, ASHANTI.
TO: HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC GHANA, NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO

Petition: Re-appoint Hon. Kwaku Kyei-Baffour as the Municipal chief executive for Bekwai Municipal, Ashanti.

First, we would like to thank you for the sterling leadership you have provided since the outbreak of covid – 19 in Ghana. The bold measures you have taken have helped to minimize the spread of virus in our beloved country. Your unrelenting effort has helped the country to still maintain peace for our homeland Ghana after the 2020 election. However, we the Concerned Citizens of the Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti region of Ghana would like to petition His Excellency, the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo to re-appoint or retain the current Municipal chief executive (MCE), Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour as the Municipal chief executive of the Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti region. Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour has proven to be staunch member of the New Patriotic Party in the Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti Region of Ghana who has served the party very well at the constituency level. He deserves re-appointment as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti region.

Among his achievements that makes him a worthy man for that position are as follows:

I. Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour been an appointee of the president of the President and a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party has been working together with the Member of Parliament of Bekwai constituency Rt. Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu the first deputy speaker of Ghana’s Parliament. The MCE devoted everything in his capacity to protect the interest of the member of parliament and citizenry of the constituency.

II. Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour is in cordial relationship with all our faithful NPP party executives as well as almost every member of the New Patriotic party in the Constituency. Job opportunities are distributed fairly among all the citizenry in Bekwai.

III. All the opinion leaders especially the Chiefs, queens, assembly members and unit committee members of the constituency attest to that fact Mr. Kwaku Kyei Baffour is a loyal and an honest man who accept the opinions of stakeholders before taking any decision concerning communities.

IV. The success NPP had at the just ended 2020 elections, that is in both presidential and parliamentary were ably supported by Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour. The independentcandidate could not win the parliamentary seat because of the astounding work of the MCE before, during and after elections. That is, Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour supported all the campaigns before elections. He provided enough security to maintain peace and order in all pooling stations in the constituency. Enough security were provided for the electorates in the constituency on the election day which removed the fear some group of people have put in the people of Bekwai.

V. Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour been a government appointee did what the presidency expected of him. He distributed all government projects equally across the constituency; That is Educational projects, health projects , roads, job opportunities etc.

VI. Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour visited all the one hundred and sixteen(116) communities in the constituency. He is very popular in all the communities in the constituency. Looking at the above we are calling on the president of the republic of Ghana to maintain or reappoint Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour as the Municipal Chief Executive of Bekwai. We would like to state emphatically clear that the MCE has no issues with the MP, the party chairman and Nananom.

In article 243 under chapter twenty of the constitution, it states that , “there shall be a district chief executive for every district who shall be appointed by the president with the prior approval of not less than two-thirds majority of members of the Assembly present and voting the meeting”. The term District Chief Executive in the constitution refers to Metropolitan, Municipal or District Chief Executive. The functions of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives are given under Article 243 of the Constitutional and section 20 of the Local Government Act, 2016 – Act 936.

The District Chief Executive:

1. Presides at meetings of the Executive Committee of the Assembly

2. Is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the executive and administrative functions of the district.

3. Does supervision of Departments in the Assembly.

4. Is the chief representative of the central Government in the District.

We would like to bring to your notice that some self-seeking members of the NPP party are trying to create disunity among the executives of the constituency. They countlessly accuse the MCE and other executives of something they do not know about. When those people are not allow to use the office of the MCE for their personal interest they tend to accuse the MCE for not been supportive. We want to also assure you that Bekwai is one of the most peaceful constituencies in Ghana and we shall do everything to protect our peace with the rule of law.

We also want to bring to your notice that those self-seeking people are all natives of Bekwai community who always want everything to be centered in Bekwai community. They hate the MCE for his impartiality in disbursing government’s projects.

Please disregard any false allegation made in the media some days ago by some fake Concerned Youth of NPP in Bekwai Constituency in the Ashanti region.

Hope our petition would be given the necessary attention.

Counting on your usual cooperation.

Signed:

Yaw Asimadu
