Adisadel College Housemaster And Student Suspended Over Viral Violent Assault On Junior

Spread the love

Shocking footage of an assault incident at Adisadel College has surfaced online, leading to the expulsion of two final-year students involved. The incident, which occurred on June 30, 2023, took place in one of the school’s Quaque House dormitories.

According to a statement issued by the school, the video has sparked a serious investigation, pending the final decision of the Board of Governors and Ghana Education Service (GES). As a result of their actions, the two culprits have been expelled from the institution.

The main perpetrator of the assault will not be allowed to write the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on campus. Instead, he will have to go to a designated WAEC center to take the exam. The victim, on the other hand, will also be sent home but will have to return to the school to write the exams, accompanied by a parent or guardian. It has been revealed that the victim failed to report the incident to the school authorities until the video caught the attention of the officials.

Moreover, a third student involved in the incident, responsible for filming the video and circulating it online, will face disciplinary action. He has been handed a one-week external suspension and will subsequently serve an additional one-week internal suspension with labor. Additionally, his mobile phone will be confiscated as part of the punishment.

In light of the incident, all other students who were present during the assault but did not intervene or report the incident are facing internal suspension.

Further actions have been taken against the Quaque House’s housemaster and his assistants, who have been immediately suspended pending the outcome of investigations conducted by GES officials.

The gravity of the incident has also led to the suspension of the Quaque Housemaster and his assistants with immediate effect. The Ghana Education Service (GES) officials are conducting an independent investigation into the incident to ensure a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the assault.

The emergence of the video has sparked widespread concern among the school’s massive old students association (Santaclausians), and raised questions about the safety and discipline within the school environment. Adisadel College’s swift action in response to the incident demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.

Visit

Meanwhile, the regional director of education is visiting the school on Tuesday (25 July), to get firsthand information on the incident.

Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, the spokesperson of the GES, Rebecca Quainoo, said: “We have a zero-tolerance policy, including sexual harassment at the GES.”

“We got the information about this incident yesterday. Currently, the regional director is visiting the school to get first hand report of the situation.

“The school committee has investigated and made their recommendations, but the regional office is also conducting its own investigation,” Quainoo added.
