The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Akim Swedru, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, has inspected the progress of work on the 30.1-kilometer Akyem Swedru to Apoli-Beposo Feeder Roads project in the Birim South district, which is ongoing and being executed by So Good Engineering and Construction Limited.
The inspection was for the lawmaker to assess the level of work done and to have firsthand information about the completion of the project.
According to information obtained by The Daily Searchlight, So Good Engineering and Construction Limited has been working tirelessly to repair the Akyem Swedru to Apoli-Beposo road for the past month.
PERUSAL
After the inspection, Mr. Kennedy Osei Nyarko spoke to the media and expressed his utmost happiness with the project’s development, saying that once the road is finished, it will reduce the burden on both drivers and passengers.
The Akyem Swedru to Apoli-Beposo road project, according to Mr. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, is one of the area’s most important initiatives since it links the district’s principal cocoa-growing communities.
Additionally, he said that once finished, the project will make it easier for farmers along the route to carry their goods to the market hub, thereby enhancing the local economy. He was satisfied with the contractor’s job so far.
“I appreciate the efforts the contractor took to complete the project on schedule. I commend the group (Soo Good Engineering and Construction Limited) for being so well-prepared, with well-assembled tools and structures.
The legislator encouraged the contractor to ensure professional execution of the project to stand the test of time for unborn generations to benefit.
He also charged stakeholders and consultants to effectively monitor the project and ensure that quality materials were used to extend its life span.
Furthermore, he stated that farmers affected by the construction of the road should maintain their composure because his office, the district assembly, and the Minister of Roads and Highways are working on a compensation plan for them.
Because some people sought to use the road project to spread misinformation , he (Hon Kennedy Osei Nyarko) asked the residents to ignore any false information about the project.
YEAR OF ROADS
In the words of Mr. Kennedy Osei, the government’s quest to improve the road network in the constituency was on course with the execution of various projects.
He emphasized that the president’s top focus continues to be improving people’s quality of life through investments in vital fields like roads and urged his constituents to keep faith in the current administration.
He stated that the New Patriotic Party’s administration, which is headed by H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, has constructed more roads than any other administration in the Fourth Republic of Ghana’s history.
“I would like to state categorically that this NPP’s administration has built more roads than any government in the history of the 4th Republic. Even in the face of the current economic crisis, our government is doing all it can’.
He pointed out that the designation of 2021 and 2022 as the years of roads was not done to get votes, but rather as a planned action to address the majority of the country’s appalling roads.
As their representative in parliament, he assured the residents of Akyem Swedru constituency of his steadfast commitment to advocate for additional initiatives and interventions to improve their standard of living.
CONTRACTOR
The Managing Director of So Good Engineering and Construction Limited, Mr. Frank Adutwum, who took the MP and the media around the ongoing construction, said that within the one month spent on the site, nearly 17 kilometers of the road have been reshaped (cleared).
He expressed the hope that the remaining kilometers will be finished soon so that the main work can begin.
Also, he guaranteed that the project would be finished on time if they did not encounter any challenges beyond their control and that only high-quality materials would be utilized in its construction.
“We are optimistic that the route will be finished in 2 years (24 months) for convenient transit if we do not encounter any challenges that are beyond our control “, he emphasized.
He pleaded with the road users and other beneficiaries for cooperation and patience.
