Ex-National Signals Bureau Boss Adu-Boahen Remanded For 7 Days

The former head of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahen, has been remanded into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Organisation (EOCO) for seven days by a High Court in Accra following a hearing on Friday, May 2, 2025.

The ruling comes after the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, urged the court to remand the accused, citing intelligence suggesting that Adu-Boahen had attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness in the ongoing alleged stealing case.

The defence counsel, Samuel Atta Akyea, strongly disputed the claim, questioning both the credibility of the intelligence and his client’s ability to influence the witness.

The presiding judge initially deferred the ruling, stating the need to review the intelligence evidence in-camera before delivering a final decision.

After hearing arguments and reviewing preliminary material, the court ordered that Adu-Boahen be held in custody for a week while further assessments are made.

According to the judge, this is a balance between the freedom of the accused and to allow the state prepare it’s witness statements.

Meanwhile, the two other accused persons Angela Adjei-Boateng, wife of Kwabena Adu-Boahen and Mildred Donkor, a former bank relation’s officer for the couple have been granted bail.

In court, Dr. Ayine also disclosed that separate investigations involving Adu-Boahen are underway at Ghana Water Limited, suggesting that the accused may face additional legal scrutiny in the coming weeks.

Adu-Boahen is expected to reappear in court on Friday, May 9, 2025.
