Asiyaw: Queen-Mother Sounds Alarm On Security; Call On Govt, IGP To Prob Killing Incident

The Queen Mother of Asiyawkrom in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal of the Eastern Region, Nana Oye-Oyeadieye Ofusua II, has called on the government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent killing of five people in her community.

The incident occurred during a meeting at an Asiyaw sand winning site, aimed at halting illegal sand mining operations, when gunfire erupted.

Nana Oye-Oyeadieye expressed worry about the safety of her people, noting that farmers are afraid to tend to their farms due to threats from armed men.

She appealed for increased security presence in the community, emphasizing that the situation has become a burden on her as the Queen Mother, with residents laying complaints at her doorstep.

While acknowledging the arrest and prosecution of some suspects, the Queen Mother highlighted that alleged masterminds, including Kumi Asante, remain at large.

“Some suspects have been arrested and are facing prosecution, but others, including Kumi Asante, who allegedly fuel the violence, remain at large, instilling fear in residents. I urge the police and National Security to apprehend Kumi Asante and intensify security measures to arrest those behind the killings”, she said.

She demanded that authorities apprehend these individuals to restore peace and security in Asiyawkrom.

The Queen Mother’s plea underscores the need for swift action to address the security concerns and bring perpetrators to justice, ensuring the well-being and safety of the community.
