Defection Stories Untrue – PNC Uncovers Alan’s Movement

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has refuted media reports that two of its executives have joined the Alliance for Revolutionary Change (ARC) and the Movement for Change (M4C) led by Alan Kyerematen.

According to a statement sighted by JoyNews, the PNC explained that the immediate past National Chairman, Alhaji Bala Maikankan, and the Second National Vice Chairman, Henry Haruna Asante have both been suspended from the party.

It, therefore, described the publications as “a calculated attempt to hoodwink the unsuspecting public especially the members of the PNC into thinking that the PNC is divided.”

“For the records, the said Bala Maikankan and Henry Haruna Asante are part of the group of former executives who were most recently suspended by the party for their involvement in the protracted leadership tussle that derailed the reorganisation and progress of the party since 2021.

“Consequently, neither Bala Maikankan who is a former Greater Accra Regional Chairman nor Henry Haruna Asante can purport to be executives of the party who are defecting to any other political grouping.”

The statement signed by the PNC’s National Chairman and General Secretary urged supporters to focus on the reorganisational roadmap published by the party ahead of the 2024 general elections and not be swayed or distracted by the surreptitious attempts by detractors seeking to cause public disaffection for the party.
