E/R: Passenger Arrested At Bunso Roundabout For Allegedly Attempting To Steal A Seven Year Old

A passenger in a bus traveling from Accra to Drobo in Bono Region has been arrested Friday afternoon at Linda Dor Rest -stop at Bunso roundabout in the Eastern region over suspected abduction .

The man (name withheld) was traveling with a seven year old boy . However, the boy was crying uncontrollably and throwing tantrums throughout the journey from Accra to Bunso Junction raising suspecion of abduction.

The suspect was handed over to the police after providing unconvincing answers on why the boy he is traveling feels apprehensive and continued to cry.

The suspect told Police during interrogation at Linda Dor Police post that , the mother of the boy had traveled to abroad that it was unplanned therefore left the boy for him to send him back to Drobo.

Police has however held the suspect in custody awaiting further evidence and corroboration by family members of the boy before he could be released.

“we had a call that someone is traveling with a child who is crying so they suspect he might have been abducted . so when the bus arrived at Bunso Junction the police went to the bus to pick the suspect and the boy.

He said, he came to Accra with the mother of the boy but the mother had flown a broad that the travel came impromptu . So he had to return with the boy. So we can’t confirm that or denied if it is a child theft case ” A man who wants to remain anonymous told Abena Pokua on Dadi 101.1 FM midday news.

It is not clear if the bus will leave the suspect behind or will wait the Police discharge him.

Cases of ritual murders and abduction are high in Ghana in recent times,hence, many people are vigilant .
