The Member of Parliament for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira on Tuesday 3rd October, 2020 performed a short ceremony to officially operationalise the Drivers Vehicular Licensing Authority office at Ayisakro in the Nzema East Municipal of Western Region.
The DVLA office, the first of its kind in Nzemaland will serve four constituencies in the Nzema and Ahanta enclave, namely Evalue Ajomoro Gwira, Ellembelle, Jomoro and Ahanta West.
Addressing the gathering,
Lawyer Frank Davies who is the Board Chairman of DVLA, praised the Member of Parliament, Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Frank Okpenyen for their hard work and persistence in ensuring the operationalisation of the DVLA facility.
He further stated that Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency was blessed with dedicated leaders who should be supported to push the development of the constituency further.
Hon. Catherine Abelema Afeku, the Member of Parliament for Evalue Ajomoro Gwira narrated the various ordeals and challenges she went through with the MCE, Hon. Frank Okpenyen to make this project a reality. Hon Afeku mentioned that some naysayers and doom mongers didn’t want the DVLA office to actualize and as such resorted to lawsuits and injunctions all in their attempt to halt the project. She however remained resolute in the face of these adversities and made sure that Nzemaland saw their first DVLA office in Ayisakro, Nzema East. Hon Catherine Afeku said the project would open up the town to a lot of business/investments opportunities and appealed to constituents to renew her mandate to do more, particularly the construction of an Airport in the constituency.
Hon Afeku took the opportunity to eulogise the late family head of the Majorie family, Abusuakpanyili Arizi who met his unfortunate demise a week ago. She stated that Abusuakpanyili Arizi was someone who stood up for the development of his people and as such should be remembered forever for creating a lasting legacy in Aiyisakro and the entire Nzema East Municipality.
The DVLA Office at Aiyisakro will end years of frustration and travelling long distances to Takoradi and Tarkwa to access driver and vehicular licensing facilities.
In attendance at the event were Nana Edusei II (Acting President, Upper Axim Traditional Council), Nana Ewiafom(Gyantuahene, Lower Axim Traditional Council), Nana Endeh III, Prince Poku Adusei(Deputy CEO, DVLA), Mr. Narh(Western Regional DVLA Director), Mr. Tawiah(new Nzema East DVLA Director), Board Members of DVLA, Clergy, Imams, NPP Party executives and sympathisers.
