The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has urged the public to pay close attention to weather forecasts.
Mr George Kwadwo Ayisi, said the Organisation is taking steps to help minimize the effects of floods on citizens.
Mr Ayisi who disclosed this in an interview with the Accra based Neat FM, on Monday said some of the steps taken include collaborating with the Meteorological Department to provide daily reports on the weather patterns.
The Communications Director of the Organisation, Mr. George Ayisi said this will help in reducing the incidents of casualties recorded mostly in the capital city after every downpour.
Mr. Ayisi maintains that adhering to weather forecasts would assist residents to move to safe zones when necessary.
“I urge everyone to be cautious. Especially for those in flood-prone areas. It will help if such people pay close attention to the weather forecast, so they adequately prepare for unpleasant situations,”
He cautioned the public about the current changes in weather pattern and urged them to heed to any information about rainfall.
“Move away to safe places anytime the rains come, exercise patience and stay at home or a safe place when it’s about to rain. Do not drive or walk in flood waters and let us advise our children not to play in flood waters,” he added.
