Ghanaian politician, Samuel Nartey George, has revealed on live television that the Ghana Football Association has appointed Chris Hughton as the new Black Stars coach.
The Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament made this disclosure on Joy Prime’s morning show on Monday morning.
“The Black Stars coach job has already been given Chris Hughton because the GFA want someone they can control,” he said.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion boss will replace Otto Addo, who departed after the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage exit in Qatar.
Hughton was the technical advisor of the Black Stars technical team at the Mundial.
The Ghana Football Association has been on the search for Otto Addo’s replacement since he resigned after he World Cup.
The association reportedly narrowed down its list of candidates for the job, with Hughton, Steve McClaren, and Hector Cuper being the shortlisted candidates.
