The former Manchester City youth star could be a new addition to the senior national team of Ghana for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, according to reports.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are reportedly in talks with Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Agyekum Frimpong to switch his international allegiance from Netherlands to play for the Black Stars.
According to renowned Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch-born has been contacted by the Ghana Football Association to switch his nationality to represent at the senior national ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
“Ghana are now really pushing to have Bayer Leverkusen fullback Jeremie Frimpong in the Black Stars as they did with Tariq Lamptey — the final decision is up to the player.” Fabrizio Romano wrote on twitter.

Frimpong, who is rated among the best U21 right-wing backs in European football, is yet to play for Netherlands at the senior side which makes him eligible to play for the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions.
He was born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam and has featured for Netherlands at the U19, U20 and U20 levels.
The budding talented defender was handed his first senior call-up by the Netherlands in March but will for the UEFA Nations League games against Denmark and Germany but he was absent for the fixtures due to injury.
The 21-year-old has had an incredible campaign in the German Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen since joining them from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in 2021. He has scored two goals and provided two assists in his 10 game outings for Leverkusen this season so far.
It will be recalled that Jeremie Frimpong in an interviews with De Telegraaf and ESPN last year insisted that his dream is to play for the Netherlands since he was born in the European country.
“I was born in the Netherlands, so for me it’s simple: I want to play for Orange (Dutch national team),” he told De Telegraaf
“I can but England’s out the way. I’m not English, I’m Dutch”
“Yes of course (it was a dream). As a young kid I wanted to play for my country, to play for Holland.”
The Ghana Football Association led by Kurt Okraku has already completed the nationality switches of some notable European-borns of Ghanaian descents namely Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Patric Pfeiffer, Stephan Ambrosio and Ransford Yeboah Königsdörffer ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Earlier this month, Frimpong was heard in a video speaking popular Ghanaian language ‘Twi’ to express his delight about the latest FIFA 23 ratings with two other Ghanaian-borns Callum Hudson-Odoi and Timothy Fosu Mensah.
He joined Manchester City at the age of nine and spend almost a decade at the club’s famous academy.
Frimpong moved to Scottish giants Celtic in 2019 before completing a move to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen during the summer transfer window in 2021.
