Ghanaians Will Be Addressed By President Akufo-Addo On Measures To Contain The Coronavirus

The President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will later today, sunday, February 28, 2021 address the nation on measures taken against the spread of coronavirus.

Tonight  address will be update number 24 as part of measures to curb the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

According to the information reaching MyGhanaMedia.com news desk, the Time has been  scheduled for 8:00pm.

 

On Covid-19 Update No:23 addressed by the president Akufo-Addo.

Th president address on January 31 place ban on funerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances den parties be until further notice. He also limit private burials to no more more than 25 people.

So far Ghana record 65,427 Covid-19 cases out of which 405 people die.

President Akufo-Addo assured the citizenry that the government was working to procure 17 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines by the end of June 2021. According to him, only vaccines evaluated and declared safe would be procured.

Six more persons have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ghana.

This brings the death toll to 599.

In the latest update by the Ghana Health Service, the country recorded 626 new cases brings the actives cases to 5,480.

The Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, Eastern and Central Regions continue to lead with the highest rate of infections.

Ghana has recorded a total of 83, 212 cases with 77,133 recoveries since mid-March 2020.

 

On The Arrival OF Covid-19 vaccine

Ghana has received the first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines through the World Health Organization’s (WHO) global vaccine-sharing program.

A flight carrying 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford University vaccine arrived Wednesday in the capital, Accra, according to a joint statement from WHO and UNICEF, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund. The vaccines were manufactured by the Serum Institute of India, the world’s largest vaccine manufacturer.

The vaccines sent to Ghana were purchased through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility, or COVAX, an initiative launched by WHO in cooperation with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, an organization founded by philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates to vaccinate children in the world’s poorest countries.
