Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejisu constituency have expressed great disappointment at the smear campaign being targeted at one of the candidates in the coming Ejisu primary, the former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
Speaking to delegates of the party, they averred that the claims that they urged Nyantakyi to back off from contesting is false.
According to them, the said allegation is being spearheaded by some contestants who see Kwesi Nyantakyi as a threat in the race and these people are using few NPP supporters who are hiding behind “Delegates” to perpetrate such evil agenda.
Several NPP delegates in Ejisu said Nyantakyi’s interest in the constituency is a good omen for the transformation of the constituency and the continuation of the good works of the late John Kumah.
They described Mr Nyantakyi as a son of the soil who has the capacity and the ability to contest on the ticket of the NPP and win.
According to the Delegates, those kicking against his candidature are people who are working behind the scenes to hand over the Ejisu seat to the opposition NDC because, without Nyantakyi the Ejisu seat is lost.
They noted that, the contest must be a fair playing field for all contestants and any attempt to others to bring the process into disrepute must be condemned.
According to them Kwesi Nyantakyi has an equal right just like the others and that for some few elements to single him out just because he tops all the others, is regrettable.
“Look whoever says he is a delegate and for that atter is attacking the credibility of Kwesi Nyantakyi for us, he is an imposter, not a delegate and not part of us. We know Kwesi Nyantakyi and we are ready to vote for him to become our candidate. Those enemies of progress can go to hell,” a delegate said.
