The Hon. Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has accused both Minority chief whip who doubled as MP for Asawase Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak and MP for Was Central, Dr Rashid Pelpuo for not being active on their committees or their committees are non-performing.
Mr Kyei Mensah-Bonsu made this remarks on floor of Parliamemt today as in response to some concerns raised by both MPs for accusing NPP government hiding behind COVID-19 to over borrow with nothing to show.
The Majority leader explained that, it is the duty of the various committees to play their oversight roles or responsibilities in making sure that, all approved loans are used for the purpose it was intended for since the sector minister always meet with members on a particular committee to brief them on exactly the use of the loans therefore, there was no need for both Rashid Pelpuo and Muntaka to asked on the floor of Parliamemt for proper documentation on loans taken by government.
This argument came up when the House was considering to a loan agreement facility of Twenty Million Dollars ($20 million Dollars) for the Agric ministry to purchase farm inputs to be supplied to farmers who have been affected by the impact of COVID-19.
Hon member of Parliamemt for Wa Central, Rashid Pelpuo also accused the ruling government NPP for hiding behind COVID-19 to over borrow with nothing to show and therefore cautioning of reduce or even stop the borrow since Ghanaians are not really getting anything good out of the plenty loans taken so far by this Government.
Hon. Minority chief whip and MP for Asawase, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak accusing NPP government for not providing enough details to all loans taken in the name of COVID-19 for members of Parliament to use in cross checking for the purpose it was intended for.
