The Ghanaian media fraternity has been thrown into a state of mourning over the death of journalist Jayne Buckman-Owoo.
She passed away in the morning of Friday August 18, 2023, after a brief illness.
The cause of death is, however, not known.
She was 49.
Jayne was a journalist with Graphic Showbiz, where she worked for over two decades.
She was also a veteran actress who starred in a number of Ghanaian movies.
Scores of media practitioners, including Joy Sports’ Nathaniel Attoh, Akumaa Mama Zimbi, gospel musician Empress Gifty, and a section of Ghanaians, have taken to social media to mourn Jayne.
Over the course of more than 20 years, Jayne covered significant events in Ghana and abroad as a staff writer for the Graphic Communications group.
Jayne Buckman-Owoo of Graphic received the recognition she deserved after serving in the creative industry for about 20 years in a variety of capacities when she was honored at the Golden Age Creative Arts Awards (GACAA), which were held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra in 2021.
Jayne received a recognition and an award for her excellence in leadership in the field of the creative arts.
A staff writer with Graphic where she has worked for over 15 years, covering major events and personalities in the creative industry, Jayne was also an actress, starring in a number of movies, and a presenter, having hosted Viewers’ Choice on TV Africa.
