NDC Will Cheat In 2024 Elections If You Don’t Deploy Soldiers – Obiri Boahen Tells Gov’t

Former NPP Deputy General Secretary, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen, has called upon the Akufo-Addo administration to station military personnel on the streets a week prior to the December 7 general elections.

Expressing concern, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen emphasized that the upcoming 2024 elections necessitate more than just police and fire service protection; soldiers should be deployed as well.

In an interview, he cautioned that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) might exploit any lapse in security, citing the 2008 elections as a precedent when the NDC capitalized on security breakdowns. He said that, despite advocating for soldier deployment during the 2008 elections, his advice was disregarded.

Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stressed the importance of key figures, including President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia, and National Security, heeding this call to maintain order by deploying soldiers.

“From President Akufo-Addo to Bawumia to National Security they should listen. They should deploy soldiers to the streets to enforce discipline,” he charged.

Asserting the NPP’s incumbent status, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen argued against allowing the party to be undermined. He questioned the repercussions of complacency, warning against potential blame-shifting should the NDC ascend to power.

Reflecting on recent incidents, he suggested that deploying soldiers during the limited voter registration process could have prevented violence, referencing the Kukuom incident specifically.

He vehemently condemned such occurrences, asserting they would not transpire in regions associated with prominent NPP figures.

“The Kukuom incident cannot happen in Wontumi’s Region, Abronye’s Region, Savannah, Kutin’s Region, North East, Central and Western Region.”.
