The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum has alleged that the Police fired live bullets to disperse the protesting youth in Nkoranza which killed a 19 years old student and injured about nine others who are currently battling for their lives at the St. Theresa’s Hospital.
He emphasized that he has managed to gather some of the empty shells of the bullets that were fired by the police and will ensure that the police will not go away with this irresponsible act. Mr. Agyekum made these revelations in an interview with 3FM’s Sunrise hosted by Alfred Ocansey on Thursday.
The MP added that even those who were shot with live bullets by the police and are currently receiving treatments at the hospital are under police guard to be arrested.
“About 8 or 9 people are in the hospital now who were shot by the police with live bullets and they [Police] are waiting for the bullets to be removed from their bodies for them to be arrested”.
He further appealed to the Media and all Ghanaians not to allow the case to die off in two weeks but to ensure finality to the case for justice to be served.
“I want us all to look at the finality of this case. I don’t want us to leave it to God. Let’s test the laws to see if somebody from the police is able to shoot somebody and kill, what is the consequence?” Kwadwo Agyekum appealed.
Meanwhile, Eno Paa the mother of Victor Owusu, the 19 years old student of Nkoranza Technical Institute who was allegedly shot dead by police during Tuesday’s clash after the youth took to the streets of Nkoranza to register their displeasure over the alleged police killing of 27-year-old Albert Donkor has appealed for swift investigation to secure justice for her slain son.
