Member of Parliament for Asokwa constituency in the Ashanti Region, Madam Patricia Appiagyei has cautioned the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to follow the traditions of the party as they look forward to electing their flagbearer for 2024 elections.

Remember that, some candidates for instance, Vice President Dr Bawumia, Allan Kwadwo Kyeremateng, Joe Ghartey, and Dr Afriyie Akoto have all expressed interest in contesting for the post. Some NPP executives have thrown out their support to Bawumia whilst others are behind Alan Kyeremateng, the two main forces for the flagbearership race.

However, the Asokwa lawmaker, Patricia Appiagyei believes the tradition of the NPP must work because there are numerous followers of the party and expecting the party’s tradition to continue.

“The tradition must work. We have followers, we have people who started the journey with the party, and people have interest so if you can keep the tradition you will be a good party.”

“It is proven that majority of Ghanaians vote for NPP so whenever the expectations are turned upside down it creates problem.” Madam Patricia Appiagyei told BB on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, Monday.

She added, the NPP needs someone with a vision to lead the party.“You need somebody with a vision; obviously it’s somebody with a vision”

According to her, the Akufo-Addo administration has done several projects like digitization but the truth is most Ghanaians are into trading specifically business, industrialization and agriculture therefore the party needs someone who has the knowledge and the ability to promote those aforementioned sectors.

“We’ve done all kinds of initiatives like digitalization but let’s look at the Ghanaian community; most of them are traders so you need somebody who can promote businesses. If you look at our level, we’ve already set a stage to take off therefore you need someone to support or promote industrialization and businesses. Apart from that, agriculture is key. All these sectors need someone to network them.” The Asokwa legislature underscored.

Despite making such a good submission, Madam Patricia Appiagyei refused to point out whom she thought could lead the NPP in 2024. She said, “When the time is due, my party will choose the right candidate but I’ve my own personal reservation about who will lead NPP.”
