The Ministry of Trade and Industry, on Thursday, 10th February 2022, opened the Kumasi branch of truck manufacturer Zonda Tec Ghana Limited located in the Adako Jachie within the Ejisu municipality.
This adds to a number of its branches in Tamale, Buduburam, Takoradi and Nsawam, Madina, Kasoa and Amasaman.
The opening of the truck manufacturing company falls under the government’s 1D1F flagship programme.
Opening the facility, Mr. Micheal Okyere Baafi, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industries asserted; “Zonda Tec Ghana has invested more than $10 million in the construction of its assembly plant as well as training schools for artisans in Tema under the 1D1F programme”.
Managing director of Zonda Tec Ghana limited Madam Yang during her speech explained that Zonda Tec has positioned itself to become a leading assembler and supplier of trucks including Sinotruk Howo Tipper Trucks, Liugong Excavators, and Payloaders, Shantui Payloaders, Bull Dozers, Graders/Rollers/Backhoes, Forland Light Duty Trucks, Zonda Tricycles, Fiat Beds, Low Beds and Farm Tractors”.
She also noted that “Zonda Tec is supporting artisans with technology transfer to build their capacities to assemble high-quality trucks for both the domestic and foreign markets”.
“In promoting the 1D1F initiative, the government is seeking to address the challenge of severe poverty and underdevelopment among peri-urban and rural communities, by attracting private sector investments into the development activities of these communities”.
