E/R: Koforidua Engulfed With Filth During The Christmas Season

A number of principal streets in the Eastern Regional Capital, Koforidua of the New Juaben South Municipality, have been engulfed with filth within this year’s 2020  Christmas season.

My Ghana Media Newsroom on Tuesday, 29th December observed that during a tour in the various streets of the regional capital.

Speaking to some traders and residents in the areas [engulfed with filth], said the garbage on the streets were dumped by those he referred to as ‘Junk Boys‘ who usually take money from the heads at the various bus stations to collect the rubbish but, end up dumping the filth on the streets instead of disposal points.

According to them, the boys did such things at night when people were not around.

Heaps of refuse are visible on streets while dustbin containers in parts of the Municipality overflowing with domestic waste generated mostly from kitchens of households over a week ago.

The degradable wastes are decomposing attracting houseflies on these heaps of garbages increasing the vulnerability of the spread of diseases among residents.

The Municipal waste is collected by the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly and Zoomlion.
