3rd National Tourism Customer Service Week 2023 Launched

The Service Excellence Foundation under the auspices of the Ghana Tourism Federation, in partnership with the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism, Art and Culture launched the third edition of the National Tourism Customer Service Week dubbed NAKOFEST 2023 at Alisa Hotel in Accra.

Present during the launch were industry captains drawn from the Public and Private sector, academia, traditional rulers and members from the diplomatic corps from Rwanda, Kenya, Suriname, UAE, Barbados among other countries.

According to Mr. Caleb Kofie, who is the Executive Director of the Service Excellence Foundation and also the National Tourism Customer Service Brand Ambassador for Ghana, the objective of the media launch is to put a spotlight on the role and impact of Customer Service Excellence while recognizing and appreciating industry employees, customers and brand advocates who continue to champion service excellence in the sector.

He added, in other to promote customer service excellence as a strategic tool for sustainable job creation, stimulating investor confidence and accelerated economic growth within the tourism and hospitality sector which includes allied partners within the value chain, it is important to incorporate attitudinal change and professionalism

For his part, Dr. Kwesi Eyison, outgoing Vice President of the Ghana Tourism Federation and Chairperson for the occasion said, business organisations should embrace a strong service culture as a guiding principle by implementing specific procedures and training regimes to enhance customer service excellence, as this can chart the path of Ghana as the leading destination of choice not only in West Africa but the whole of Africa.

 

 

 

On the order hand, the Deputy Head, corporate affairs of Ghana Tourism Authority Mr. Kofi Kakra Kusi in his address said, as part of the Ministry and GTA’s commitment in supporting the Private Sector, more than six thousand operators in the industry are expected to be trained by the end of this year to improve on customer service delivery whether domestic or international programmes that attracts tourists, visitors diasporas or people of Africa decent. He assured GTA’s commitment to supporting the Service Excellence Foundation in promoting the National Customer Service Excellence programmes for the sector.

A director of Research and Policy at the Ministry of Tourism Art and Culture Madam Mabel Kudjo said “customer service excellence indeed makes customers feel valued through postitive experiences and this increases brand loyalty”.

The NAKOFEST 2023 week-long event be held from October 2–7, 2023, is themed “Celebrating Excellence, Leadership and Innovation” and activities will include service excellence training programmes, Nakofest Health Walk and awards recognition event which will be held at Labadi beach hotel on the 7th October 2023 among others.
