Ghanaian referee Charles Bulu had to be stretchered off after he collapsed while officiating the Ivory Coast-Ethiopia 2021 Africa Cup of Nations at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.

The Elephants were leading 3-1 and with 10 minutes of play left the centre referee collapsed.

After more than 10 minutes of hold-up, the match was called off and the points awarded the hosts.

The visitors were not in favour of the Fourth Referee taking charge because he is Ivorian.

Referee Charles Bulu is, however, said to be doing well.

Both Ivory Coast and Ethiopia have already booked places at the tournament to be hosted in Cameroon.

But with Tuesday’s results, the two-time champions top Group K with 13 points while Ethiopia follow with 9 points. Madagascar and Niger are the other nations in the group.
