Avoid Travelling To Volatile Regions In Northern Mali – Foreign Affairs Ministry Cautions Ghanaians

The Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration issued a travel advisory on April 26 warning its nationals abroad against travel along major highways linking Mali and Niger due to security concerns.

 

The advisory focuses particularly on travel via the Gao and Ansongo regions of northern Mali, where there have been reports of commuters being harassed by alleged terrorists. It remains unclear how long the warning will remain in effect.

Heightened security is likely along the Mali-Niger frontier due to ongoing insecurity.

Attacks by militants and bandits targeting public transport and private vehicles are possible, as are localized transport and business disruptions in areas where security has been reinforced.
