Rev. Simms Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the National Deputy Director of Operations and President of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Developmental Journalists Association (D.J.A.), a non-partisan group of Journalists in Ghana, has called on Ghanaians to support the Association’s aim of fighting against the abandoning of government projects by the past and current governments of Ghana.

Speaking at the launch of the Ashanti Regional Chapter of the Association in Kumasi on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, Rev. Appiah-Kubi said, It is very disheartening to see government projects being abandoned by the government after spending millions of taxpayers’ money.

In order to put pressure on the government, as was done in 2023 when it abandoned the major tourist attractions in the Eastern Region (the Big Tree tourist site) located at Akyem Aprokumase, he advised the citizens to notify the association about any unfinished or abandoned projects.

He asserted that following pressure on the government, they moved swiftly to revitalise the tourist attraction, which is currently bringing in millions of cedis for the state each month.

He called on all the Media practitioners in the country to join the Developmental Journalists Association so that together we can all eliminate that canker of abandoning projects anyhow.

On his part, an executive member of the Association, Mr. Daniel Mbabugri Akgri of Agyenkwa FM also the CEO of Damak Sanitation Health Watch and Damak Media made a passionate appeal to the citizens to give out their support when DJA members visit their Community for news.

The Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Developmental Journalists Association Mr. Debrah Michael also known as Obofuor also appealed to our political leaders to see to it that peace prevails before, during, and after the 2024 elections.
