The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Hon. Michael Amoah Awuku has said that his inability to perform well is as a result of he not been biological native of the municipality.
Nana Owusu Boateng who is a sub chief in the area confirmed to the media that, the MCE, Hon. Awuku in a crunch and in-camera meeting admitted that he faced challenges with the chiefs in the municipality adding that the MCE attributed his under-performance to the fact that he found it very difficult to convince many chiefs in the area for lands to construct developmental projects.
“Because he is not from the area, he always brought internal wriggling among the chiefs in terms of choosing a chief to chair ceremonial programs all because he did not know which chief is superior or higher than which one,” Nana added.
“We are upon this confirmation from the MCE’s own mouth pleading with the president Akufo-Addo to appoint another person who is comes from the area or a true native of the municipality,” Nana pleaded.
According to Nana Boateng, they are neither promoting racism, tribalism nor nepotism but they want the NPP government to retrieve its glory which is lost during Hon. Awuku’s regime from the people in the municipality.
“Atwima Nwabiagya South also deserves better this time around. Because we couldn’t get or saw few developmental projects in the area and no single inner city road has been tarred in the area. Why?” he rhetorically asked.
Meanwhile some former and current assembly members have accused the municipal assembly of corrupt act where some people who paid for building permits had their receipts written on an A4 sheets instead of former or original receipt from either the assembly’s finance, works and housing or any concerned departments.
Some chiefs in the area have also raised issues about his under-performance and the confusion created among them and has pleaded for a leader or MCE who can amalgamate them through his or her leadership.
On the other hand, majority of his (Hon. Michael AmoahAwuku) party members have complained bitterly about his leadership and the fear of the party losing or getting reduction in the votes casts in 2024 general elections.
“We plead with President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to appoint a different person for the municipality because Awuku couldn’t perform to our expectations and that of the president’s. We guess,” Some NPP members said.
