Galamsey Pit Collapse Kills 3 Persons At Wassa-Dompoase [video]

Information reaching MyGhanaMedia.com indicates that, three (3) persons have been confirmed dead after an illegal mining (galamsey) pit collapsed on them at Wassa-Dompoase, a mining community in the Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.

 

The deceased include,  Ahmed, Wofa and Kay.

 

According to an  eye witness the incident happened at the dawn of Sunday, July 31, 2022, around 12:00am.

 

According to him the 3 persons went to mine but unfortunately, the pit caved in on them.

 

“The youths in the area normally go to the site to work(mining) in order to get their daily bread.

 

They have been mining there over a long period of time but unfortunately for these three friends, the pit collapsed on them

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Wassa Amenfi Government Hospita for preservation, identification, and autopsy.

 

 

The government intensified its fight against illegal mining in the country.

 

 

A task force, Operation Halt have been deployed to mining areas to arrest all culprits and destroy their mining equipment.
