The government of Ivory Coast has officially reopened its land borders closed to travelers from Ghana since March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Western Region Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Immigration Service Moses Akakpo, who confirmed the news to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa morning show, indicated that the development will enable free flow of travelers to the two countries without restrictions.
“We all know that side of our border has remained closed since the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
“It would be recalled that in March 2022, our president ordered our side of the border to be reopened but our brothers in Ivory Coast refused to open their side.
“I can confirm to you and your listeners that our brothers in Ivory Coast have now opened their side and people who have intentions to travel and have intact documents can do so without any restrictions,” he indicated.
He cautioned travelers using illegal routes to desist from such since the laws will not spare them when caught.
“Those who have been using illegal travel means should be cautioned that they will not be spared when caught. Once they have genuine documents, our officers at the Elubo border are ready to assist them to travel without any challenges,” he added.
