Silver FM’s AKWADAA NYAME CAN report with authority that a section of the main Kumasi-Accra road at Konongo is in danger of collapsing if something concrete and urgently is not done to avert the resultant impending calamity.

The affected area is about 900-millimetre, approximately 3 feet culvert buried under the tarred road, between the Mobil Filling Station and the Pinamang Preparatory School near the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly block. A drainage system flows towards the road.

Authorities in the Asante Akyem Central Municipal Assembly say they have detected huge gullies beneath the asphalted surface which pose a potential danger to road users.

Residents and drivers who uses that stretch of the road have been asked to be careful when using the road.

The authorities disclosed that, the road defects began developing many years ago and has since extended almost half into the main road.

“Nobody will survive if there is an accident; we are ready to relocate those around that portion of the road because fixing the road is important to us”, presiding member of the Assembly said.
