A popular member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and one-time presidential aspirant, Stephen Atubiga has said he will one day become President of Ghana before he depart from earth.
He indicated that, after John Mahama, he will become NDC’s flagbearer to ensure the win power in upcoming general elections.
According to him the NDC must work hard to ensure that they wrestle the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for power in which he said, “We need to work hard to ensure that we wrestle our opponents for power that is why am criticizing the party constructively so that they will do things right,’’ Stephen Atubiga exclusively told Reynold Agyemang on ‘Pae MuKa’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
Stephen Atubiga says he suffered for the party and even went to jail as a result of his party-focused activities hence his displeasure over the development.
He indicated that he has the competence to lead the umbrella party after John Mahama.
Stephen Atubiga, by a letter signed by General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has been suspended with immediate effect.
By the letter dated Tuesday, March 23, his matter has also been referred to the party’s Disciplinary Committee for further action. It comes on the heels of the expulsion of former Central Region Chairman Bernard Allotey Jacobs
Mr Atubiga, who came to the limelight as a result of his conviction by the Supreme Court during the 2013 election petition, is said to have vented disparaging and unfounded comments about some of the party’s key senior members including former flagbearer aspirant Professor Joshua Alabi.
