The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has by Executive Instrument, extended the curfew hours for Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
The curfew will now be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., starting on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
In an official statement, the Minister urged the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of the area to remain calm despite the challenges they are facing.
He encouraged them to adopt non-violent approaches and focus on maintaining peace.
Meanwhile, a total ban remains in place on the possession of arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons by individuals within these communities and their surrounding areas.
“Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement said.
