A petition has been submitted to President Mahama, expressing concern over the lack of representation from the Jomoro Municipality and the Nzema ethnic group in appointments to the Petroleum Hub Corporation.
The petitioners, Ultimate Voice of Western Region argue that this exclusion is a glaring act of marginalization and undermines local participation.
The petition highlights allegations of nepotism and conflicts of interest, citing the appointment of relatives of the Minister of Energy to key positions. It also emphasizes the importance of regional balance and inclusive governance.
The petitioners urge President Mahama to conduct a review of the appointments and take corrective measures to ensure fair representation. They request that at least one qualified Nzema professional be appointed to a top executive position within the Petroleum Hub Corporation.
“Your Excellency, our demand is not to have all three CEO positions occupied by Nzema indigenes; rather, we urge your high office to ensure that at least one qualified Nzema professional is appointed to a top executive position within the Petroleum Hub Corporation. This is a reasonable and justifiable request that aligns with the principles of regional balance, social cohesion, and inclusive governance”, they stated

PETITION TO THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
HIS EXCELLENCY JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA
JUBILEE HOUSE, ACCRA, GHANA
Petition for Fair Representation in Appointments to the Petroleum Hub in Jomoro Municipality
His Excellency President Mahama,
The Ultimate Voice of Western Region had intercepted a disturbing information regarding appointments to the Petroleum Hub Corporation in the Jomoro Municipality by the Honorable Minister of Energy, John Jinapor. We find it both alarming and disheartening that none of the three appointed Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) hail from Jomoro or belong to the Nzema ethnic group, despite the region being the host of this critical national project.
It is our firm belief that this exclusion is neither an oversight nor a mere coincidence but a glaring act of marginalization against the people of Nzema and the Western Region at large. Your Excellency, given your serious commitment to equity, inclusivity, and regional representation in governance, we are confident that this matter has escaped your attention. We, therefore, implore your esteemed office to conduct an immediate review of these appointments and take the necessary corrective measures to ensure fair representation.
Furthermore, credible allegations indicate that two of the appointed CEOs, Halimatu Sadia Abdulai (Deputy CEO of Petroleum Hub) and Onasis Rosely (Deputy CEO of Petroleum Hub Corporation) are direct relatives of the Minister of Energy. If substantiated, this raises significant concerns regarding potential nepotism and conflicts of interest, which contradict the fundamental principles of good governance, fairness, and meritocracy values that your administration staunchly upholds. Additionally, while the substantive CEO, Dr. Tony Aubynn, is an experienced professional, the exclusion of qualified Nzema indigenes from top management roles not only undermines local participation but also contravenes the spirit of equitable national development.
It is a well-established principle of administrative justice and constitutional governance that regions hosting strategic national projects must be afforded a meaningful stake in their management. Excluding indigenes from leadership positions in the Petroleum Hub Corporation effectively disenfranchises the very people whose land and resources sustain this project. Such an approach risks breeding resentment and public distrust, which can ultimately hinder the smooth implementation of government policies in the region.
Your Excellency, our demand is not to have all three CEO positions occupied by Nzema indigenes; rather, we urge your high office to ensure that at least one qualified Nzema professional is appointed to a top executive position within the Petroleum Hub Corporation. This is a reasonable and justifiable request that aligns with the principles of regional balance, social cohesion, and inclusive governance.
We wish to reiterate our gratitude for your past responsiveness to the concerns of the Western Region and trust that your administration will take immediate steps to rectify this imbalance. The Ultimate Voice of Western Region remains committed to constructive engagement in the pursuit of fairness, transparency, and national unity.
We look forward to your swift intervention in addressing this pressing issue.
Signed
