The chief of Akyem Adjobue in Akyemansa District of the Eastern Region, Nana Owusu Akyenteng III, has made a significant contribution to the educational sector in his community by donating educational materials to schools in Akyem Adjobue.
The donation includes 500 copies of teacher’s notebooks, 3,000 copies of note 1 exercise books, and 1,000 pieces each of D2 and A2 exercise books.
The schools that benefited from the donation are: Presby Basic School, R/C Basic School, and GCD D/A Basic School
Chief’s Initiative
The chief’s donation is part of his policy and initiative to support the growth of education in Akyem Adjobue.
Nana Owusu Akyenteng III expressed his desire to change the level of education in Adjobue, citing the poor academic performance of schools in the community.
He stated that one of the primary reasons he decided to establish this kind of initiative is in light of the town’s mining status, which presents a major obstacle to education.
In his view, this will ensure that the kids would prioritize their education above mining operations as a means of making quick cash.

Warning to Teachers
The chief warned teachers not to sell the donated books to students, emphasizing that failure to comply would result in legal action. He stressed that the materials were intended to support students’ learning and should be used for their intended purpose.
Call To Parents
Nana Owusu Akyenteng III states that another significant issue is that a lot of pupils opt to roam the streets at night instead of focusing on their studies.
The chief urged parents to take responsibility for their children’s education, emphasizing the importance of supporting their wards’ academic pursuits.
He encouraged parents to ensure their children prioritize their studies and make good use of the educational materials provided.
Appreciation
The Akyemansa District Director of Education, Mrs. Joyce Afriyie Agyapong, received the donated items on behalf of the headteachers and expressed gratitude to the chief for his kind gesture.

According to her, the donation will have a positive impact on the educational sector in Akyem Adjobue, saying that providing the schools with the necessary resources will help the pupils to excel in their studies.
She promised that the books would be distributed to the students to achieve their intended purpose.

She advised the students to make good use of the materials and noted that some parents fail to provide their children with necessary educational resources.
Mrs. Agyapong also called on other chiefs to learn from Nana Owusu Akyenteng III’s initiative and support the children in their communities, especially in the education sector.
“The donation of educational materials by the chief of Akyem Adjobue is a welcome development that will undoubtedly contribute to the growth and development of education in the community. Nana Owusu Akyenteng III’s initiative demonstrates his commitment to improving education in the community and serves as a model for other leaders to follow”, she said.
