The Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly disbursed 1st quarter release of 2022 Disability Fund to 40 Persons With Disability (PWD). Five persons with disabilities were provided with medical support.
Under the educational support 11persons were given. Also 4 other persons with disabilities were supported with 8 goat as an agricultural material to improve their farming activities. And another group were also supported Sheep to upgrade their farming activities as agric business is concerned.
Fourteen persons with disabilities were supported with 14 deep freezers to enhance their economic activities.
2 bags of beans were given to two persons, 3bags of rice and 3gallons of oil were also given to the persons with disabilities, one person with disabilities were also given 1 Fufu pounding machine to improve their daily businesses.
1 welding machine were given to one and 1 roofing of container also were given to one persons with disabilities also improve their works.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Ejura Sekyedumase (MCE), Dr Kingsley Osei introduced the program to the municipality, the aim of the activity is to empower Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality to help them to undertake economic ventures that would sustain their lives.
An interview with the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, since Ghana government does not want to give physical money to persons with Disability (PWDs), because they misuse it or doesn’t use it for intended purpose.
According to him, he’s much support the government, that’s why the MMDAS can only give physical money to PWD on perculiar issues like settlement of medical bills or medications and private special School fees which the amount must be attached to the application letter when speaking with the journalist.
He said, he’s much appreciates with H.E Nana Akufo- Addo,the president of the republic of Ghana his supportive of the Persons with Disability (PWDs). He said, government seeks to eliminate persons with disability begging along the streets thus, the need to support them financially.
The Municipal Chief Executive who presented the items advised the beneficiaries to make absolute use of the items to generate income for their daily expenses. It is to this, that he indicated that there would be effective monitoring of these items to ensure that the beneficiaries do not mishandle them.
