There is simmering tension between supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan.
This follows their match day 22 game at the Accra Sports Stadium where Kotoko won by a lone goal scored by Augustine Okrah.
Asamoah Gyan was introduced into the game late in the second half but was booed when he came on by a section of the Kotoko supporters.
The former Sunderland player first made comments about the booing incident during the post match interview but made damning comments about Kotoko supporters in a lengthy video he posted on his social media handle.
Kotoko’s Greater Accra Supporters PRO, Seth Nii Darko has fired some missiles in the direction of former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan.
He explained in an interview with Ashh FM, the reasons why a section of the supporters were booing Ghana’s all time top scorer and says that no one needs Asamoah Gyan’s name when applying for a visa.
The supporters who booed Asamoah Gyan at Accra Sports Stadium were not only Kotoko supporters in Accra because Kotoko have supporters across the country
“Gyan was booed because Legon Cities had a freekick and they wanted Gyan to come from the bench to take it so one of the Legon cities players fell just to delay the time for Gyan to finish dressing and come on to take the free kick.”
” The Greater Accra Regional circles council are still waiting for the representative of Gyan to come out with a press statement to condemn Gyan’s act.”
“There are so many legends in Asante Kotoko so there’s no need for anyone to go to the embassy to mention his name before getting Visa. Gyan should put that at the back of his mind
I will go to the embassy and mention Stephen Oduro , Opoku Nti, even we will mention George Abege and Adingra before I will acquire my visa not Gyan name” he concluded.
