MASLOC CEO Storms Techiman Over Unpaid GH¢6 million In Loans

The Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Ghana,  Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah has stormed the Bono East Regional capital Techiman over the refusal by beneficiaries to repay a total of GHC6million loan disbursed to them.
According to the CEO, MASLOC disbursed GH¢8million within 5 years to over Eight Thousand of beneficiaries in the Region, however, only Ghc2million has been recouped.
The CEO and her deputy Mr Kwabena  Asamoah and other officials   joined the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East Regional Manager of MASLOC, Mr.  Justice Appiah Antwi to sensitize market women and traders on the need to repay the loan secured from the center.
Hajia Abibata opined that that every Ghanaian citizen is capable of securing a MASLOC devoid of Politics but she was worried about the reluctant way of Repayment by beneficiaries and said the National Recovery Rate is about 45% and for Bono East is around 31% which is very loan and said a Taskforce would be set up to retrieve the already disbursed monies in no time and therefore urged all beneficiaries to pay back without any excused or punitive measures would be implemented to serve as deterrent to others.
Speaking to Nana Amakye of Classic FM in Techiman  Bono East Regional capital,the CEO said MASLOC is an apex body responsible for implementing the Government of Ghana’s (GoG) microfinance programmes targeted at reducing poverty.
Mr. Antwi added that, Bono East region has three operational offices and hopeful many will be added very soon to ease pressure that people go through when securing a loan facility.
He debunked the claims that only party people gets these loans.
