The Black Meteors of Ghana held Algeria to a thrilling 1-1 stalemate at the Stade du 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba in the first leg of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko named a strong line up for the game with Danlad Ibrahim in goal. Inform Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Zubairu Ibrahim all made the list excluding Daniel Afriyie Barnieh- who missed out due to suspension.
The Meteors were really cautious at the start as they always looked packed in their half in order to prevent conceding an early goal.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku tried his luck in the course with a strong hit but missed the post by few inches.
In the second half, the Algerians returned on a blistering note and made series of goal incursions in search for the opener.
The Warriors came close to finding the back of the net after a cross was floated into the box but was cleared by Augustine Arhinful.
The homesters were given a penalty but the kick was saved by Ibrahim Danlad on the 79th minute.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a golazo on the 85th minute after hitting straight from center into the roof of the post to give Ghana the lead.

Just and when the Meteors thought of winning, the host were given another penalty and was converted by Bekkouche Chemseddine to draw them back on level terms.
It finished 1-1 after full time. The return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
