The Black Meteors of Ghana held Algeria to a thrilling 1-1 stalemate at the Stade du 19 Mai 1956 in Annaba in the first leg of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko named a strong line up for the game with Danlad Ibrahim in goal. Inform Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Zubairu Ibrahim all made the list excluding Daniel Afriyie Barnieh- who missed out due to suspension.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku tried his luck in the course with a strong hit but missed the post by few inches.

In the second half, the Algerians returned on a blistering note and made series of goal incursions in search for the opener.

The Warriors came close to finding the back of the net after a cross was floated into the box but was cleared by Augustine Arhinful.

The homesters were given a penalty but the kick was saved by Ibrahim Danlad on the 79th minute.
