The Porcupine Warriors have exited from the 2022/23 CAF Champions League after losing to RC Kadiogo on penalty shootouts in the preliminary round.
Asante Kotoko suffered a painful elimination from this year’s edition of the competition after losing 3-1 on penalty shootouts at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The fixture ended on a 1-1 aggregate after RC Kadiogo inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Asante Kotoko to cancel out the first leg tie scoreline in Benin.
The Burkina Faso champions frustrated Asante Kotoko to open the score through a stunning free-kick from Bassika Syla on the 14th minute of the game.
RC Kadiogo continued their impressive performance against the Porcupine to hold on with the 1-0 lead as the hosts kept struggling with lot of faulty passes.
In the second half, Asante Kotoko were hopeful of leveling the score with the introduction of Georges Mfegue Omgba and Solomon Sarfo Taylor after the hour-mark.
Isaac Oppong and Georges Mfegue Omgba came close to snatch the equalizer but their efforts went futile.
Asante Kotoko could be found guilty for squandering the numerous chances created and the set-pieces awarded to them in the last thirty minutes of the game.
